Loni’s Unlikely Rise to Fame

Loni:

A Star in the Making

I still remember walking into a room where everyone knew my name. It was 1963, and I was just a high school senior from Roseville, Minnesota. People recognized me as the “Queen of the Valentine’s Day Winter Formal.” Little did I know that this small-town event would set off a chain of events that would change my life forever.

As I look back, it’s amazing how far I’ve come. From being a model to becoming an actress, and from playing receptionist Jennifer Marlowe on WKRP in Cincinnati to voicing Flo, the lovable collie, in All Dogs Go to Heaven, my journey has been nothing short of extraordinary.

But it wasn’t all glamour and glitz. There were times when I struggled to find my place in the industry. I was mostly unemployed as an actress for nearly a decade before landing guest roles on TV shows like S.W.A.T. and Police Woman. It was a rollercoaster ride, but one that taught me perseverance and the importance of staying true to myself.

As I reflect on my life, I’m reminded of the power of resilience. From being rejected as Chrissy on Three’s Company to walking out on WKRP in Cincinnati during the 1980 summer hiatus, I’ve faced my fair share of setbacks. But it was those moments that ultimately shaped me into the person I am today.

Looking back, I realize that life is a journey, not a destination. It’s the ups and downs, the triumphs and failures, that make us who we are. And as I look to the future, I’m excited to see what’s in store for me. After all, as they say, “the best is yet to come.”

A Legacy Lives On

My passing on August 3, 2025, marked the end of an era. But my legacy lives on through the countless people whose lives I’ve touched. From my fans who grew up with me on WKRP in Cincinnati to those who’ve been inspired by my courage and resilience, I’m grateful for every moment I had to share my story.

And so, as I leave you with this final thought, I hope that you’ll remember me not just as an actress, but as a woman who lived life to the fullest. May my journey serve as a reminder that no matter what life brings, we always have the power to create our own destiny.
